Optional open lattice work detailing
adds visual design interest.

DESCRIPTION

This jacket was designed for the lady who enjoys adding a personal touch to her garments. The open lattice work goes up the front, down the sleeves and across the back (well above your waist and hips) and creates a great visual illusion. You will look thinner and taller. For quick, simple construction, use tubes of fabric or ribbon for the lattice. There is a straight kimono-style collar that can be fully attached or only partly sewn, leaving the ends for tying. There are also pockets sewn to the inside front (not in the side seams) for easy access, eliminating side seam bulk. This is a good visual design for all figures. For a "2 hour" sewing project make the jacket without the lattice work.

Fabric Suggestions

A medium weight fabric with medium to soft drape and a stable weave works well for this simple jacket. Use a silk or interesting color or texture for the collar band. This is also the perfect pattern to use for creative sewing. Get out your fabric scraps and combine fabrics, colors, and textures for the jacket pieces as well as the lattice tubes. When combining different fabrics in one jacket, do think about where you place each piece so the finished jacket not only looks good, but is also comfortable and moves nicely.

Sizing

This is a roomy jacket with simple straight lines. It is designed to have 6" - 10" of wearing ease. Sizing adjustments are done in the side seams.

This pattern adjusts from small to XXLarge. Great for plus sizing.
