This charming tea-length dress is simple, nostalgic, innocent – a reminder of times past and times to come.  This generously sized dress is designed to barely touch the body. It drops on over the head and has drop shouldered sleeves for comfort. The bottom edge of set-in waist band hits at waist creating a high-waisted look which adds visual inches to your legs. The softly pleated skirt can be as narrow or full as you want. The jumper repeats the mood and sizing of the dress.  There is also a little vest included.  That fits nicely over the dress for a layered look.  This pattern offers many opportunities for creative play.

This pattern is designed to have at least 8-10 inches of ease. Check neck opening and cut smaller if needed. Because there are sleeve seams, also check shoulder width and adjust if needed. Simple instructions are included in the pattern.  Adjust waist length by moving bodice cut line up or down. All other sizing adjustments are done in side seams. This pattern sizes up or down very easily because of the simple pattern shapes and unstructured design.  If more shaping is desired, there are instructions and ideas included in instructions for darts, tucks and ties.

This is a roomy dress, so choose a soft fabric with nice movement such as rayon, rayon blends, soft cotton, medium weight silk or light wool.  Polys will also work, however, polys do not press well and pleats may not lay as flat as you want.  Choose a fabric with a tight weave. Cotton T-shirt knit will work if you pick one with not a lot of stretch.  Stay away from a stiff denim or corduroy that is going to stand away from your body. For winter, try a soft wool or cotton flannel.  For summer, use light cottons or rayons.  Stripes or striped prints work great. You can reverse directions.  It is also good for color blocking.
