Fort De Soto Park

Our Patterns:

#12-FORT DE SOTO PARK
Price: $12.00

Description
This generously cut pattern has a large front and back yoke that extends across shoulders to cuffs. There are large gussets under the arms adding room and comfort to the garment.  For those of you who are not sure if you want to sew in a gusset (in illustration, appearing to have a square corner at side seam and yoke at underarm) there are instructions that are all straight sewing – no set-in square corners like in traditional gussets.

The blouse is a pull-on with the front cut in 2 pieces and generously overlapped to allow movement without opening when worn. There are pleats in front and back.  You can pleat them as full as you want or leave them out altogether.  I strongly recommend you make pleats and do not gather. The pleats will hang closer to your body.  Gathers will stand out more and will not be as attractive.

The jacket also has a round neck finished with a bias edge.  Again, you can pleat or leave plain.  In the jacket, I do like to put some kind of pleat in back to add movement.  You get a PERMISSION SLIP with all Park Bent Pattern Co. patterns that allows you to do ANYTHING you want. These patterns should never look the same. You get instructions for a front facing or a front placket. Pockets are also included.

In addition to the blouse and jacket, there are instructions for a long tunic style vest.  I have also added an extra cut line across the front and back to encourage you to do some creative sewing.

Sizing
Yoke can be cut deeper or narrower so it flatters all figures. Sizing up or down is done in side seams and is done before sewing on gusset. The design is amazingly easy to construct. Lengths are adjusted at hems.  This is also an excellent design for sizing larger. There is a lot of room in the arms.

Fabric Suggestions
Just about any kind of fiber or fiber blend will work for this blouse or jacket. The kind of fabric weave you choose could be about anything.  Just remember there is a lot of fabric in the design and if you pick a fabric that stretches or is loose woven, the garment may not hold its shape well.  I like to combine different kinds of fabrics when making this pattern. It is a good design for creative sewing, and the yoke is perfect for embellishing.  Here are some things to think about when making your selections – The sleeves are large and have roomy gussets.  If the fabric is heavy, stiff or bulky, the garment may not be as comfortable when wearing as a fabric that is softer and has more drape.  The yoke is large, so I suggest you choose a weave that is stable or tight. The skirt part of the blouse or jacket could be softer (more drape) and not as tightly woven. Get out your “fabric collection” and think of the possibilities.
