#16-MEADOWLARK PARK
Price: $12.00

Description
This pattern starts out as a traditional “boy friend” styled jacket with wide shoulders and deep front “V” opening. From there, I took it a little further and made it my own design.  The shoulders are already wide, but I have added an additional sleeve cap or a flange.  The detailing across the shoulders is created with long tubes of fabric that can be any length and width you want.  These are overlapped and sewn only on one side (kind of like scales or feathers) and are sewn down only part way and the ends are left loose to move. The movement and tube detailing draws the eye up.  The wide shoulders draws the eye out and helps visually balance the jacket. Your hips will look more narrow. The jacket body is straight and the sleeve openings are roomy.  Nothing tailored and close fitting. There are front and back neck facings. There is also a pocket on the inside of the jacket.  By putting the pocket on the inside instead of in the side seams, I have eliminated side seam bulk. Most of us really don’t need any extra bulk on our hips!

Meadowlark Park - Pattern #16

Vest instructions are also included in the pattern.  Vests can be such a versatile part of any wardrobe.  It is fun to be creative and add your own personal touches.  These fabric tubes could be anything from different weights and textures of fabric, ribbons, braids, pieced strips or neck ties. For additional detailing, add embroidery, beads, tassels, etc. One of the most popular samples I Have made, I also appliquéd a row of houses around hem to add more detailing.

Sizing
Because of the wide shoulders and roomy armholes, this jacket fits large ladies with little alteration. Everyone will check the shoulder width and fold pattern at shoulders to make smaller if needed.  All other sizing adjustments will be in the side seams. Just move the cut lines in or out at the side seams and up the sleeve as needed.  It sizes up or down very easily.

Fabric Suggestions
Choose a jacket weight fabric with a tight stable weave such as crepe, corduroy or denim.  You won’t need a lot of drape for this pattern. The fiber content could be anything. I have personally used wool crepe, coat wool and washed linen.  I have also used medium weight home decorating fabric.  ALWAYS PRE-WASH BEFORE SEWING.
