Description
This pattern is one of my personal favorites.  I really enjoy clothes, and I think we should have a little fun with them once in a while. This design gives you that opportunity. The straight cut pull-on over the head blouse or jacket has a front panel with inseam pockets. There is also a tie in the back for a little shaping. The shoulders are slightly dropped with roomy set-in sleeves.  The sleeves are where the fun begins!  The sleeve is cut on the bias and in 4 pieces and these pieces are cut with “curves”.  When the sleeve is sewn together, these “curve” form scallops and give the sleeve a ruffled effect.  It is an interesting design detail that can be a lot of fun.  You could color block or add decorative stitching to the seams.  I love using knits for this jacket. You get a comfortable sweater that is so much more than just a simple cardigan.  Try serging the seams on the outside in a contrasting color. You could also fold the scallops flat and secure with buttons.  There are lots of possibilities.

The skirt gives you even more opportunity to play. This skirt is much more than the straight pull-on tube skirt with elastic waist that it appears to be.  To begin with, it has a center front panel that repeats the panel in the blouse or jacket.  Then, in the panel seams, I have added what I call “knee pockets”.  Don’t laugh yet.  These really work. You know how you wear a long straight skirt, it pulls when you go up stairs, get in the car, or cross your legs? These “pockets” open and give your knee just a little extra room when and where needed.  In a soft fabric, they open and close.  It is fun to watch people look and try to figure out what they are seeing.  Like I said, we should have a little fun once in a while. If you don’t want the “knee pockets”, then just sew them closed and cut them off.  You now have a nice straight skirt with front panel detailing.

Sizing
When sizing the blouse or jacket, there is a set-in sleeve, so you will check the shoulder width and fold pattern to make the shoulder narrower if needed. All other sizing adjustments are done by moving side seams in or out as needed when cutting.  This is a pull-on skirt, so cut wider or narrower so it is comfortable over your hips.  Shorten or lengthen at waist. It really is an easy pattern to work with and an interesting design for everyone to wear.

Fabric Suggestions
I recommend a soft to medium weight fabric with medium drape.  Nothing too flimsy and nothing too stiff. The fiber content could be anything. I personally like to use a tight woven knit for this pattern.  However, we have used challis, rayons, and washed linen.  You can see there are a lot of choices. If you decide to use several different fabrics in one garment, choose fabrics that are equal in weight and drape. Don’t pick anything with a loose weave. Stay with medium to tight weaves.
