Description
Vest: This one piece vest has only two seams and a center front cut making for very quick sewing.  Pick a fabric that looks good on both sides because both sides will show when worn. You cut the center front open and then fold the fabric at the shoulders and twist the front pieces and sew the side seams together.

The weight and drape of the fabric will determine how the vest will hang.  If the fabric has a lot of drape then the center front of the vest will hang longer than the sides and you can fold these points up to form pockets.  If the fabric doesn’t drape that much then pockets can be added.

Pants: The pants have center front leg seams with vents at the hem. Also in the center seams there are inseam pockets with small pleats at the waist for a softer look across the tummy.  If you don’t want center front pockets then you have the option to substitute these for inseam pockets in the side seams.

There is back waist elastic for easy pull-on comfort.  You also have the option of a center back zipper if you prefer.

Sizing
Vest: The size of the vest is determined by how wide you cut the fabric.

Pants: The pants are to be cut a little larger than you think you need. You do an “on the body” fitting before finishing and adjust side seams and crotch length at that time. This method allows for you to take into consideration the weight and drape of the fabric when making adjustments.

Note: In all Park Bench patterns an “on the body” fitting should be made before side seams are finished.

Fabric Suggestions
Vest: Pick fabric that looks good on both sides because both sides show when worn. I don’t recommend trying to line this vest because the design is too unstructured. It has a shawl type collar that needs to have some drape so don’t pick anything that is too stiff.  Just about any fabric will work as long as it has some drape.  Even a knit will work as long as it doesn’t have a lot of stretch.

Pants: Pick a tight woven pant weight fabric that has medium drape.  There is a center front leg seam and vent as well as optional front pockets so pick a fabric that will press well.  It doesn’t matter what kind of fabric you choose as long as it gives you the look and wearing comfort you want.
