Description
Basic, Basic, Basic – we hear it all the time. We ask for timeless simplicity, be we really want more. This collection of 6 “basic” pieces gives you this.  This 6-piece wardrobe has many personalities and is not limited to this week’s fashion trend.  Depending on fabrics you choose and embellishment and creative touches you add, this mini-wardrobe will be timeless.

The pull-on pants have elastic waist for comfort, inseam pockets, are generous at waist and thigh tapering to cuff.  They can be cut straight legged or skinnier. I have gotten many good comments and “thank you’s” for these pants and my method for sizing them.

The pull-on tube skirt can be as short or long and as full or skinny as you want.  The short curved vest and long tunic vest are perfect for creative embellishments.  The clean lines are always in style.  The pull-on blouse is a simple T-shirt style that can have any sleeve length you want. If you cut the hem of the blouse long, you have a “quick to sew” sheath dress.  Great worn under either of the 2 vests or jacket. The jacket has clean straight lines. The sleeves are roomy for comfort. There is no lining, only front and back facings, so construction is very easy.  No tailoring or time consuming alteration.  The 6 pieces all work together and by mixing and matching, you have an endless wardrobe.

Sizing
Because these pants are simple pull-ons and not a more tailored design, the sizing adjustments are done almost all in side seams.  Just move cut lines in or out as needed.  I always encourage you to cut bigger than you think you

need.  You are going to make final fitting adjustments when the pants are on and before the side seams are sewn.  This way, you can “fine tune” for the type of fabric used and the way it drapes.  No 2 fabrics fit the same.  Skirt, blouse and tunic vest are sized in side seams. The jacket has a set-in sleeve so you will check shoulder seam width and fold pattern to fit your shoulder. Everything else is done by moving side seams in or out as needed. Because this isn’t a fitted or tailored design requiring more precise alterations, sizing up or down is very quick and easy. A good simple design for all figures.

Fabric Suggestions
I personally prefer the natural fibers:  cotton, linen, silk, rayon, wool. However, polys or poly blends will do fine.  Also, tight woven knits can be used for most of the pieces. The pants can be any tight woven pant weight fabric. Remember, the less drape , then the more bulk around the waist.  The blouse could be any top weight fabric, including knits.  The vests could be made from one of the home decorating fabrics if it isn’t too stiff. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO PRE-WASH BEFORE SEWING  Or, you could choose a plain weave and embellish, texture or piece to add interest. The jacket has been made from fabric as heavy as coat wool, or as light as challis or hand painted silk.  It is also a good jacket pattern for hand woven fabrics.
